Dear Recruiting Team,
I would like to apply for a position Lab Scientist.
I have a Master in Biology and a PhD degree in Genetics.
I have worked for many years on the field of microbiology.
For the last ten years I have worked as a post-doc researcher in the Laboratory of Molecular Cell Biology at the Department of Molecular Microbiology at Flanders Institute for Biotechnology (VIB) and KULeuven in Belgium.
Before, I worked as a researcher in the laboratory of Biochemical Genetics at Saint-Petersburg State University in Russia and for the biotechnology company BIOTECH Ltd (http://www.biotech.spb.ru/main.php?menu=england), producing recombinant interleukin 2. Here I was responsible for the genetic modification of Pichia pastoris yeast.
As a student I did a stage in the laboratoire de Génétique Moléculaire de la Neurotransmission et des Processus Neurodegeneratif of Hôpital de la Pitié Salpetrière in Paris, France. I practiced there in two-hybrid system analysis.
During my work at VIB I characterized the structure/function relationship in membrane proteins using SCAM analysis, site-directed mutagenesis, bioanalytical methods, computer modelling. I screened chemical compounds for the agonist action on the signaling function of membrane proteins. I successfully searched for substrate-binding sites in membrane transporters.
I am familiar with assay development, screening and analytics.
I am excellent at molecular biology methods (molecular cloning, DNA, RNA isolation, DNA recombinant techniques, directed (site-directed) and random mutagenesis (chemical and UV mutagenesis), library construction, gene overexpression/deletion/partial deletion, tagged constructs). I am familiar with QPCR, microarray, confocal microscopy, fluorescent techniques.
I am familiar with Sequencing and I used sequence-based bioinformatics software packages and MS Office during my work.
I am skilled in application of biochemical assays (electrophoresis, protein purification, Western, ELISA, enzyme characterization, enzyme activity assays, radio-ligand-binding).
I used daily methods of microbiology like microbial strain cultivation, transformation, crossing, media preparation and etc.
I have a solid knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice.
During my work I was involved in writing of grant applications and reports, preparation of scientific articles for publication.
I am able to design, carry out and manage new product development projects.
I can draft reports. I am able to approve and perform changes to documentations/procedures as necessary.
I have a broad experience in scientific data analysis and presentation at the international and internal conferences and meetings.
I am able to interpret results independently.
I am definitely analytical and innovative thinker.
I am interested to identify new areas for innovation.
I have full professional proficiency in English. I speak Dutch fluently. I am learning French.
I am well-organized, accurate, creative, flexible and hard-working. I am able to multi-task.
I would be happy to contribute my knowledge into life science company.
I am looking forward to hear from you,
