  • Postdoctoral Researcher Leuven, België
    Since December 2013

    •  Research domains: Virology and Immunology (I studied the antiviral immune

      response in insects), Regulatory biology (non-coding RNAs, epigenetics and endrocriene peptides in insects), and Physiology (circulating RNAs, peptides and systemic innate immunity in insects)

    •  Laboratory skills: Cell cultures and cell based assays (microscopy, luminescence, fluorescence, cytotoxicity, etc.), in vivo studies, cloning, transfections, viral production, viral titration, reverse genetics, RNAi, tissue dissections, RNA/DNA extractions, real time qPCR, RNAi, sequencing, (immuno)histochemistry, and I have recently started with RNAseq

    •  Research organisms: Mus musculus, different insect species, and different viral strains

    •  Computer skills: Data management (SAS, R, Statistica, Graphpad, etc.), In silico sequence analyses (NCBI, BLAST, Alignment, phylogentic trees, etc.), and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)

    •  Project management of more than five innovative research project, inclusive budget control and application for research grants

    •  People management: Supervised more than ten dissertations

    •  Good communication skills: received the “best seminar award of the Zoological

      Institute”, interviewed by “Chemicals and Engineering News” and “invited speaker” at

      important international conferences

    •  Good writing skills, inclusive a certification for “English Academic Writing”

    •  Performed an international research stay of 3 months in Athens (Greece), the lab of Prof. Luc Swevers and I

               studied for one semester in Montpellier (France).
