    Project management. Research focused in two main projects: one dedicated to study of a molecular mechanism involved in inflammation, linked to autoimmune diseases and tumorigenesis. And another project dedicated to characterize the function and regulation of a specific deubiquitinating enzyme during the cell cycle in cells under pathological conditions (brain cancers). Working with mammalian cell cultures. Transfection and transformation techniques. Protein purification. Molecular cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, DNA/RNA extraction, purification and quantification. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). DNA gel electrophoresis. In vitro assays for protein phosphorylation and protein ubiquitylation. Immunoassays, radioisotopes, reticulocyte lysate, protein immunoprecipitacion and luciferase assay. Quantitative western blot analysis applied to the study of signalling pathways. Mentoring and training graduated students and technicians. Write and critically review reports, protocols and peer-reviewed publications. Design and coordinate laboratory activities towards a successful completion. Present results in front of the scientific community.

    Title PhD Thesis: Versatility in Proteins Interactions Involving Modular Domains of Adaptor Proteins.

    Working in multicultural teams, project management and publication of  high impact peer-reviewed papers in international scientific journals. In depth data management and interpretation.

    Hands-on laboratory experience in protein expression, cell culture (prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells), purification of recombinant proteins, separation techniques chromatography, isotopic labelling protocols and Immunoassays.

     High experience in complex biophysical techniques applied to the study of protein stability, dynamic and protein interactions, such as: Isothermal Titration Calorimetry, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy, Circular Dichroism, Fluorescence spectroscopy, Small Angle X-ray Scattering and Bio-layer Interferometry.


    Techniques used: - Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) espectroscopy - Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (ITC) - Circular Dichroism (CD) - Fluorimetry - Bio-layer interferometry - Titrations: acid-base, redox and complexometric - Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS) - Liquid chromatography (HPLC and FPLC) especially for protein purification: ionic exchange, size exclusion (gel filtration), reverse phase and affinity chromatography - Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. - Cloning and expression of recombinant proteins in prokaryotes. - Protein overexpression in different growth media, including 13C, 15N-enriched minimal media for isotopic labelling. - Purification of tagged (GST-, His-, Flag-… tags) and untagged proteins, including the design of new protein purification protocols. Cell lysis (e.g. sonication, French press and cell cracker), precipitation techniques (e.g. pH and ammonium sulphate precipitation), ultracentrifugation, purification in denaturing conditions (Urea, guanidinium), protein refolding (e.g. by dialysis, dilution and in-column refolding).
