“Field study on the efficacy of selected multivalent oligosaccharides to prevent pathogenic E. coli in newly weaned pigs” IOF-StarTT project (from 11/2015 till now) "Oral delivery of selected multivalent oligosaccharides to protect pigs from pathogenic E coli infections/diarrhoea" IOF-Advanced project (from 07/2013 till 07/2015) Main tasks: - Analyzing the inhibitory capacity of different compounds on Pathogenic E.coli adherence by in vitro assays, in situ (perfusion test) and in vivo animal trials. - Coordination of animal trials to test feed additives against pathogenic E.coli in pigs.

"Towards Selection on F4 and F18 ETEC resistance in pigs for prevention of postweaning diarrhoea" IWT-LO project (11/2009-10/2013, 4 years) Main tasks: design and conduct experiments - Coordination of animal trials to vaccinate pigs against pathogenic E.coli - Analyzing the F4 and F18 ETEC adherence phenotype of pigs in vitro - Investigating the differential F4 binding profile of pigs at protein level - Purification and Identification of F4 receptor glycoproteins (chromatography and mass spectrometry) - Characterization of F4 receptor glycosylation - Writing/presenting data to report to IWT, the user groups (companies who funded the project) and international conferences, scientific publications.

Main tasks: idem bachelor student and give practical courses - Project: "Production of kit for DNA extraction and PCR to detect halothane gene in pig" Contents: Mentoring a bachelor student to compose the packages of DNA extraction kit and PCR kit for screening halothane gene which is applied to produce nucleus herd - Project: "Extraction of DNA from hair" Contents: Supervising a bachelor student to set up a standard protocol to extract DNA from hair of livestock/valuable but rare animal/animal in risk of extinction for convenience in screening work, diagnosis. - Project: "Canine in vitro fertilisation" Contents: Mentoring three bachelor students to establish a protocol to produce embryo of valuable local canine breed in vitro. - Teaching: practical course of the subject "applied biotechnology in animal production"
