Highly accomplished molecular biologist with extensive international experience in cutting-edge basic and translational research environments. Fascinated with the different incentives and structural frameworks that shape basic, transitional and applied science. Looking forward to applying my attention to detail, wide-ranging experience, as well as passion for the discussion, presentation and contextualization of scientific findings outside of the academic sector.

Current Experience

  • Postdoctoral Researcher
    Since February 2013
Developed combinatorial tetramer staining protocols to reveal, directly from human samples, the repertoire of influenza-specific CD4 T-cells, and its modulation by precursor frequencies and immunotherapy. Translated this approach to describe a new target of autoimmunity in rheumatoid arthritis and study how these pathogenic responses are shaped by clinical progression and therapy.

Past Experience

  • PhD Studies Structural Immunology
    April 2008 --- October 2012
Lead structural and biophysical research that revealed a novel rule governing the binding of MHC epitopes. Performed a proof-of-principle immunization study for an innovative HIV vaccine strategy and solved the structure of a HIV-neutralizing antibody.

  • PhD student
    April 2008 --- October 2012

  • Research Internship: Biomimetics for Artificial Photosynthesis
    January 2007 --- January 2008
Performed independent research on candidate biomimetics for artificial photosynthesis

  • Master Thesis: Molecular Evolution of Antibiotic Resistance
    January 2006 --- January 2007
Researched the emergence of antibiotic resistance using PCR-based artificial evolution

  • Research Assistant: Molecular, Indirect Plant Defense
    January 2004 --- January 2005

  • Vordiplom
    January 2002 --- January 2005
