As an experienced biomedical scientist with a broad knowledge of neuroscience and six years of experience in functional neuro-imaging studies on human subjects, I thoroughly enjoy working in an international and multidisciplinary environment and am driven by an avid interest in healthcare, technology and innovation. I'm always eager to learn new technologies.  and to obtain new expertise.

I am now seeking a new professional challenge with growth potential, both professionally and personally.

Current Experience

  • Postdoctoral Researcher
    Since October 2014

Title: "Interactions between ghrelinergic gut-brain signals and the brain opioidergic system in the regulation of meal volume tolerance and pain sensitivity in health and Functional Dyspepsia".

Currently, I’m organisinga research line on the interactions between gut peptides and central opioids as well as their role in the regulation of pain sensitivity. I supervise, coach and mentor MSc and PhD students, coordinate the different projects and review the final reports.

Past Experience

  • PhD researcher
    October 2009 --- September 2014

Title: "Brain mechanisms of visceral pain perception and normal meal volume tolerance in health and Functional Dyspepsia"

I investigated the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying visceral pain processing and normal meal volume tolerance. The ultimate aim is to identify these central mechanisms as potential novel treatment targets for difficult-to-treat disorders characterized by altered tolerance of meal volumes including (functional) gastrointestinal disorders, obesity with or without co-morbid eating disorders.

Besides designing, organising and conducting both mechanistic and clinical studies, I was also responsible for the analysis and interpretation of complex data sets as well as the dissemination of the results at various international meetings. Coaching and supervising MSc students were also part of my responsibilities. Furthermore, I was closely involved in setting up an international collaborative study with three renowned research groups.

  • Junior Auditor
    September 2008 --- July 2009
Performing audits and reviews of financial statements and reports on internal controls
