    Consolidating field research and studies in contemporary policing and security. Maintaining professional networks and preparing research project proposals.

  • Senior Fellow
    April 2012 --- May 2014
    As contracted project consultant, assessed and reported on the potential contribution of selected major event security planning services to broader EU policy objectives. Presented on progress to the European Commission. Compiled and wrote the project's end product - a user guide for police security planners and policy makers in relation to the project's services for major events security in Europe.

  • UN Contract Consultant
    January 2011 --- July 2011
    Wrote and presented to the European Commission in Brussels on behalf of UNICRI a consolidated guidance document for future international coordination services in the field of major event security planning in Europe.

  • Postdoctoral Researcher
    January 2009 --- December 2010
    Continued Academy of Finland postdoctoral research project on private security to completion of field work. Taught contemporary social theory at postgraduate level to MA research students. Regular international conference presentations and media articles. Significant contributions to EU level project (EU-SECII) and UN OPCAT expert to Estonia and Council of Europe's NPM project.

    Conducted police research and command course training in fields of drugs policing, witness protection and community race relations and represented the college internationally. Led EU level project work on behalf of the Finnish Police Department concerning major event security (EU-SEC). Carried out first phase of Academy of Finland funded postdoctoral research project on private security.

    Qualified to rank of inspector. Extensive operational experience of general policing, criminal investigation, community safety, policy development and supervisory duties at substantive rank. Entered police research after five-year career break on completion of doctoral studies in Finland.
