diana torta is a post-doctoral Research fellow at the université catholique de louvain, collaborating with the gcs- fmri group at the koelliker Hospital and department of Psychology in turin. she obtained her phd from the University of turin in march 2011 after a period spent as visiting Student at the University of oxford and at the University college in london. before the post-doc position at the University of turin, she won an ineurope short stay fellowship at the université catholique de louvain. her scientific research is aimed at understanding what is the role of spatial attention and space representation in the perception of painful stimuli, how the representation of one’s own body and the space surrounding it can affect the perceived intensity of nociceptive stimuli and what is the role of some regions of the brain (in particular the somatosensory cortices and the cingulate cortex) in the perception of such stimuli. for this goal she integrates the use of different techniques such as eeg and erps, tms, fmri and lesional studies. other research interests include the study of degenerative diseases such as parkinson’s and alzheimer’s diseases under neuropsychological and neuropsychiatric perspectives.
