I am a life science research scientist with broad technical skills in laboratory research. I gained several years of experience in planning and conducting research experiments, project development and management, data analysis and solving, teaching undergraduates, training graduate students, scientific communication, critical thinking and international collaborations. I have a full and critical understanding of biological processes and excel in independent thinking and problem-solving. I have experience in industry in developing new products and updating existing products, and in leading and managing teams. I am interested in a career that offers the opportunity to continue to develop, both on a personal and professional level, working in a team of scientists.

Current Experience

  • Postdoctoral Researcher Delft, Netherlands
    Since February 2014

Membrane proteins: expression and purification, studying protein traffiking and protein-protein interactions.

Training and advising PhD students, practical teaching master students.

Techniques: Chromatography FPLC, electrophoresis, western-blotting, protein assays, insect cells culture,E. coli, transmission electron microscopy, image aquisition, image processing, lipids solubilization, proteoliposoms, extrusion

Past Experience

  • Postdoctoral Researcher
    March 2012 --- November 2013

Biochemical and structural characterization of supramolecular organization of membrane protein complexes by cryo-electron microscopy. Single particle imaging by transmission electron microscopy and image processing in order to obtain high-resolution structural information.

Techniques: membrane protein purification by FPLC, electrophoresis, cry-electron microscopy, 2d crystallization, protein-lipid interactions

  • Biochemist, Product Development Medical Devices
    January 2010 --- October 2010
    - Product development, formulation and registration of “over-the-counter” medication having prevention and treatment claims and registered as Medical Devices. A big part of my work was the pharmacological assessment of individual ingredient through an extensive literature research in scientific articles, clinical trials and toxicological data, and biocompatibility. - Management reporting, review and release technical documents in accordance with ISO10993. - Contact manufacturers and distributors for acquisition of chemicals, communication with customers, contact with our outsource manufacturers to plan and discuss the manufacturing process - Product registration, audits.

  • Postdoctoral Researcher
    September 2008 --- August 2009

Tracking radioactive water by autoradiography, ultramicrotomy, cryo-sectioning and transmission electron microscopy.

  • PhD researcher
    April 2003 --- August 2008

Membrane protein expression, purification and structural characterization by transmission electron microscopy and image processing.

Techniques: Afinity chromatography, FLPC, electrophoresis, sucrose gradient purifiation, dinamic light scattering, trasmission electron miicroscopy: negative staining, cryoelectron microscopy, 2 dimensional crystallization of membrane proteins, image processing

  • Laboratory Manager
    October 2001 --- September 2002
Supervising five technicians, planning operations, responsible for maintenance of equipment, support the laboratory quality management system by ensuring compliance with ISO 9000:2001, provide training to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines.
