Chemist based in Brussels, Belgium. Previous academic and research experience gained in Eindhoven and Cardiff Universities. Proven track record in contributing original ideas to R&D projects and in managing people and projects in a timely manner to deliver successful outcomes, including efficiency savings and positive feedback from industry. Detailed knowledge and experience covering a wide range of chemical synthesis, characterisation and testing procedures (e.g. Autoclaves, Gas Chromatography, Titrations, UV-Vis Spectroscopy). Extended experience in delivering presentations at meetings and international conferences. Strong numeracy and IT skills, including full use of Microsoft Office and specialist software programs (e.g. CasaXPS, Chemdraw, HighScore Plus, Origin, SciFinder).
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
January 2014 --- January 2016
Confidential Research Project Supervisors: Prof. Dr. Ir. Emiel Hensen and Dr. Evgeny Pidko
Ph.D. Researcher - Heterogeneous Catalysis
October 2008 --- March 2013
Research project directed towards the optimisation of a catalysed process used to synthesise hydrogen peroxide. Aspects of organic, inorganic and physical chemistry were key to this process development, the findings of which have been successfully published, with emphasis placed on sustainable catalysis/waste minimisation. Research undertaken in collaboration with chemical engineers and technologists based at Solvay S.A., Brussels, Belgium (Industrial Sponsor, 2009-2012).
Section Coach / Customer Service
July 2005 --- September 2008
This was a part time position held alongside undergraduate studies, where in addition to fulfilling the duties of a customer service assistant, I was promoted to a section coach role. This involved training new and existing members of staff on updates to store operating procedures, customer service and due diligence. Valuable experience gained across the clothing, food and drink, hospitality and technology departments, where I was the recipient of several performance bonuses and customer service awards.
Quality Control Analyst
August 2004 --- August 2004
This was a four week voluntary student placement working in a large analytical laboratory. The placement involved addressing strict quality control targets using a range of sampling, volumetric and spectroscopic techniques, the results of which I presented to the laboratory manager on a daily basis. Training in GLP and Health and Safety was provided in order to access the steel production facilities and surrounding areas for sample collection.
