Current Experience

  • DVM, PhD
    Since June 2010

    Employed as scientific personnel in the department of Medical Imaging.

    Responsible for the clinical part of the veterinary Nuclear Medicine Department (client connection, patient treatment). Supportive aid (content, logistic) for finished and ongoing PhD projects in Nuclear Medicine, both at a clinical and fundamentel research level.

    Responsible for the day-to-day working of the Nuclear Medicine Department. 

    Teaching of students and peers both in theoreticel sessions, film reading sessions as well as during daily clinical activity in the Medicial Imaging department.

    Clinical work at the Small Animal Ultrasound clinic. 

    Since 2012: personal FANC license for handling radioactive material for medical purposes, both diagnostic and therapeutic. 

    Responsible for radiation safety in the Department of Medical Imaging and Small Animal Clinic. 

    Responsible for writing SOPs on clinical studies, daily GLP procedures, client information brochures for clinical work. Ethical committee application writing.

    Initiating, coordination and follow-up of clinical research.

    Member of the local Ethical Committee. 

    Organisor of the Veterinary Nuclear Medicine Short Course (2012 + 2015).

Past Experience

  • Ph.D. Student
    September 2005 --- June 2010

    PhD project in the Nuclear Medicine Department of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ghent University.

    Topic: renal function assessment of normal, renal inssuficient and hyperthyroid cats by means of radioactive tracers (51Cr-EDTA and 99mTc-DMSA). Defense in June, 2010.

    During the PhD project: clinical work in the Nuclear Medicine Department, as well as logistic and content support for other PhD projects.
