Since February 2016
Working as a researcher at the Liquid Crystals and Photonics research group of the Electronics and Information Systems department at Ghent University. My research focuses on new bistable switching modes of liquid crystals (based on defect manipulation), to be used in applications such as smart windows. Next to that, I am involved in projects together with industrial partners. My responsibilities also include supervising bachelor projects and assisting student practicals in the lab.
October 2015 --- January 2016
A.T. Kearney is a leading global management consulting firm with offices in more than 40 countries. During my time in the Benelux unit, I worked on a cost reduction project for a large multinational importer of heavy machinery (footprint, net working capital and cost to serve analysis) and did a market analysis for a major insurance company in the context of its IPO.
Consulting Director & co-Founder (Ghent branch)
June 2014 --- June 2015
180 Degrees Consulting is the world's leading provider of consulting services for non-profits, social enterprises, and socially minded companies. We collaborate with amazing non-profits and social enterprises to improve their effectiveness and create real social impact. The organisation is 100% made up of students. We have worked with leading top-tier consulting firms to develop our own tailored consulting methodology and consulting training program. We develop students' capabilities in consulting through hands-on experience and valuable life skills so we can optimally meet our clients' needs. During my last year at Ghent University, I co-founded the Ghent branch of 180 Degrees Consulting. As the first local Consulting Director, I was responsible for attracting new clients, setting up projects together with the client and following up the team/client during the whole project duration. We were awarded as the best European branch after our first operational year. The branch is still growing (+30 local members) and is in the hands of a new team of entrepreneurial students. To be continued!
August 2014 --- September 2014
As a (summer) research assistant, I join the LCP group for one month and work on a project involving light scattering with liquid crystals.
July 2014 --- August 2014
Modeling the diffractive losses caused by the light valves in a projection system. There is a growing trend in projection to increase the resolution of the imaging devices or reduce the size of the imaging device. Both trends result in a reduction of the pixel size on the imager and an increased diffraction effect, which again lead to reduced efficiency and contrast ratio. In order to quantify the diffraction for different states of the imager and different illumination distributions a model needed to be developed. With the results of the diffraction model actions could then be taken to optimize the system efficiency and/or contrast ratio.
July 2010 --- July 2013
Joined the team to help customers & fulfill daily administrative tasks (for 1 month during summer).
CEO & founder
October 2011 --- January 2013
Artist Management & Booking Agency. Lieuwe, Dries and I helped artists & DJ's with promotion and administration, to find their way in the music business. Our strengths were our young spirit and familial approach. We founded Essential Bookings to learn a lot and enlarge our entrepreneurial spirit. During our first months, we were 'lucky' enough to set up a collaboration with Compact Disk Dummies - who subsequently won Humo's Rock Rally in 2012.
