Since October 2011
Working on stratification of patients with HGS ovarian cancer based on DNA repair. Developed a functional assay for reading out DNA repair status. Simultaneously using lots of NEXT GEN sequencing tools, discovered new candidate genes within the BRCA signature. I often review papers for publications, clinical trials and grant proposals. If not working in the lab, I love engaging with the public. I am taking part in lots of outreach activities on behalf of Cancer Research UK.
September 2010 --- September 2011
My work involved looking at clinical data from patients with intellectual disability who had come through our center. Assessment of arrayCGH results, HRM, Sanger Sequencing, FISH, use of public databases like DECIPHER, dbSNP, dGV and interpretation of clinical reports. I got the chance to select some interesting cases and look into their genetic profiles in more detail leading up to case reports. Germline genetics and a very good training by the people there, very grateful for that.
January 2010 --- May 2010
My work involved looking at clinical data from patients (trio's) with intellectual disability who had come through our center. Assessment of arrayCGH results, SKY, introduction to flow cytometry and learning R programming. First time I was in such an international thriving environment, with lots of brilliant people. I enjoyed so much that from that period on I knew I would return one day!
