    I focused on the role of tolerance towards reactive pxygen species (ROS) in the resistance of biofilms against antibiotic therapy. In this work, two hypotheses were investigated. Firstly, biofilms survive antibiotic therapy, because they can defend themselves against stress caused by the ROS. Secondly, these defence mechanisms are essential for persister survival in sessile communities.
