Current Experience

  • Ph.D. Student Reykjavík, Iceland
    Since October 2010

    Researcher•University of Liege • July 2014 - July 2015.

BAMBI (Bottom–up Approaches to Machines dedicated to Bayesian Inference) – a FP7 (FP7–ICT–2013–C) project.

Topic: “Transcriptional and metabolic responses of wild type green algal cells to variations of light intensity”. Characterized the clonal transcriptome of C. reinhardtii wild type cells cultivated in light using RNA-Seq by optimizing a protocol for isolating RNA from single clones of green algae, and prepared RNA-Seq libraries and analysed the sequences.

    Teacher • University of Iceland • September 2012-December 2013.

Courses taught-Methods in Molecular Biology, Genomics and Bioinformatics, Genetics and Molecular Genetics.

    Assistant Researcher• University of Iceland • December 2007-December 2009.

Topic: Defining effects of rare codons on protein expression in S. cerevisiae. Constructed reported vectors with variable number of rare codons.

Ph.D., Biology• (in progress, thesis submitted) • University of Iceland

“Global macromolecular characterization of lichen Peltigera membranacea symbiosis & Identification of a new lichen species Peltigera islandica. Used NGS technologies (DNA-Seq, RNA-Seq & BS-Seq) to assemble and annotate the whole genome, and studied the transcriptome and the methylome of the three tissues in this lichen.
