Summary

I work well equally on my own or in a team. I tend to be a very happy, calm, good humoured and positive thinking Doctor and I carry out my work diligently sometimes under lots of stress in insecure and unstable situations. My golden rule in medical practice is better than to be a good doctor is to be a safe doctor. It has always been part of my job to train Junior Doctors and Paramedical staff. However, I have no hesitation to consult my senior or junior doctors for medical advice. Apart from training staff, the job also involved the training of patients and co-patients. Through my experience with MSF as team leader I used to lead a group or unit of medical staff and non medical from all over the world. As part of the package training with MSF, I followed a course on Team leading and conflict management in the workplace. I come from a large family in Sudan. I am the oldest of 6 children. My parents are both school teachers and they taught us from a very early age to respect different points of view in life. My father taught in Yemen when I was a child and I went to school there. I learned at an early age to adapt quickly to new surroundings and working with MSF has only enhanced my adaptation skills. I have lived in precarious parts of the world such as Johannesburg, Helmand Province, Afghanistan and in Egypt. In all situations of conflict in life, a resolution can be found if people are willing to sit down, respect and talk to each other. I am a very liberal thinking and open-minded person. I grew up in a huge country with 600 tribes and 300 languages and having worked for MSF this has only emphasised my intercultural thinking having lived and worked with colleagues from all corners of the world.
