Since the last decade, I grew my career through various expert roles in the medical device and medical nutrition industry, primarily focusing on the therapeutic area of oncology. I started my international corporate career in the radiosurgery business, dominated by the German company Brainlab. As a hands-on trainer of the radiosurgery product portfolio, I facilitated both scientific classroom trainings and onsite trainings and built a divers KOL portfolio. It was only a small step converting my training material into scientific marketing material as I transitioned into an EMEA marketing manager role followed by my assignment as scientific research manager. My scientific acumen, obtained during my time as PhD in graphene nanotechnology, turned out to be a commonality for establishing long-term relationships with KOLs worldwide. Leveraging my network, I coordinated scientific research, drove the selection of potential research partners, and led international advisory boards. After six years with Brainlab, I reported directly to the CEO, whom I assisted in translating the internal strategy into an external customer-facing strategy that helped define the direction for investigator-initiated research grant funding. During my time at Brainlab, I experienced how the impact of new technology slowly saturated to the point when the release of new medical devices or software no longer revolutionized the outcomes for the patient. For so many years, all efforts have been focused on the treatment solely, with supportive therapy completely neglected. These insights were a revelation to me. Moving to Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition meant broadening my horizon beyond the aspects of patient treatment to the quintessential basics of any patient in any setting: compensating energy depletion levels to ensure a timely recovery, minimize treatment-related side effects and improve overall survival and quality of life.
