I am an enthusiastic and driven scientist who is open to new challenges. I have a great interest in new technologies including CRISPR, Nanostring and NGS and I am now looking for a career in an innovative and creative R&D field of advanced molecular diagnostics and drug discovery. I have more than 10 years’ experience in advanced molecular and cell biology techniques including RNA, DNA and protein manipulations and analyses. I have optimized protocols for screening constitutive mutations in genes predisposing to breast, ovarian and bowel cancers using multiplex PCRs. My research career has involved establishing broad range of 2D and 3D in vitro models to study human diseases such as breast cancer, Metaphyseal Chondrodysplasia Type Schmid (MCDS) and Weill-Marchesani syndrome (WMS) in order to find therapeutic approaches. My discoveries led to selecting a drug for MCDS, which is soon going to be tested in clinical trials (EMA/OD/148/16 UPI997570), and is in a process of being patented (PTC/GB2017/050710). In addition, I have established and characterised an in vivo mouse model of WMS, which has led to further understanding its mechanism and pathology. Moreover, I managed to successfully edit human genome using CRISPR technology. Hence, I am able to troubleshoot and interpret advanced data independently. My ability to plan and execute my research in an autonomous fashion, whilst also working efficiently as a part of a team has played an essential role in the successful completion of my PhD and subsequent publications. As part of my work I have also supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate students. In order to improve my managerial skills I completed the Researchers into Management course and was awarded with middle manager qualifications (level 5 ILM). As an open-minded individual who cares about work environment I took a role as PhD and Post-Doc representative and established a network between scientists within our division and tried to take it to a faculty and cross-faculty level.
