A Molecular Biologist with over 10 years of research experience and specialization in pathway engineering and protein expression platforms using E. coli, yeast and Lemna for the production of pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals, including project management and R&D supervision. With a PhD in Molecular biology and a strong research background in industry as well as academic research institutes coupled with organizational and managerial skills including administration, scientific management and business development, I believe I would be able to do justice to the role.

Past Experience

  • Scientist - Assistant Director Bangalore, Karnataka, India
    February 2014 --- March 2015

Manage and supervise R&D activities, Journals and Service platforms; Preparing project proposals for Grants; Project budgeting & management; Multi center project collaboration; Manage technical & non-technical staffs; Organizing CME, workshops & training programs.

Projects managed at ChanRe Rheumatology & Immunology Center & Research

    (1) Simple method for early malaria diagnosis. (2) Comorbidities in Rheumatoid arthritis. (3) Microvascular complications in diabetes (T2D). (4) Study of NLR (neutrophil lymphocyte ratio) in Rheumatoid arthritis. (5) Study of EPC (endothelial progenitor cells) in diabetes.

  • Junior Research Fellow Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India
    August 2008 --- May 2013

Established Lemna facility. Worked on expression and purification of engineered single chain variable fragment (scFv) antibody against TNFa using E. coli (periplasmic secretion) and Lemna expression systems.

  • Senior Research Fellow Bangalore, Karnataka, India
    November 2005 --- July 2008

Pathway engineering in Yeast: Production of recombinant DHA.

Part of a team that established GCMS facility.

DOE using GCMS for FAME analysis.

Use of enhanceomers in vector designing for enhanced gene expression.

Projects completed at Avesthagen Limited, pharmaceutical / biotechnology company

Construction and verification of transfection ready recombinant expression constructs that separately encode the light and heavy chains of the recombinant monoclonal antibody- Bevacizumab (for CIPLA) and other in-house projects on sub-cloning of NESP; Cituximab monoclonal antibody; cloning of Tenecteplase; Glut4 and Xigris; Cloning of SAR/MAR using NESP and huIFNβSAR under Biotherapeutics division. In the Microbial process Development group - Bioneutraceuticals, I have worked on DHA pathway engineering in Yeast and fatty acid analysis using GCMS.

While working at Avesthagen Limited, I have contributed significantly for the patent:

Recombinant production of DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) in Yeast: WO/2006/064317 (Pub. date: 22.06.2006)

  • Research Scholar Manipal, Karnataka, India
    February 2005 --- July 2005

Worked on Pharmacogenomics of asthma, cardiovascular and psychiatric diseases.

  • Research Trainee Bangalore, Karnataka, India
    May 2002 --- March 2003

Worked in the lab of Dr. P. Ajit Kumar, Department of Microbiology and Cell Biology. Got trained on biochemical and molecular biology techniques in the project: Biochemical characterization of ftsH and ftsZ proteins to study mechanism of cell division in M. tuberculosis
