Worked with the Department of Aquatic Ecosystems. Expertise on the biological monitoring practices and methods according to the requirements and recommendations of the Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC. Collaborated in two main projects: 1) Water quality of springs alongside Srebarna Lake. Project founded by WETLANET and NSFB. Study on the impact of intensive agriculture on Srebarna Lake ecological status (Natura 2000 Site). 2) Ecological and chemical Assessment of Vit River. The Water Framework Directive establishes a legal framework in which member states shall create programmes for the monitoring of water status within each river basin, including the ecological and chemical status. * Awarded Leonardo Da Vinci EU Funding.

Worked as part of the Applied Biocatalysis group in a new line of research focused on the bioremediation of phenols using immobilized biocatalysts for further industrial applications. The results were reported within my first class honours dissertation entitled ”Application of biocatalysts for the removal of organic pollutants in wastewater”.
