I’m a very enthusiastic person with a background in Bioscience Engineering and currently pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Sciences. During the past 4 years I acquired a specific expertise in the field of immunology and virology, but I have a broad passion for health and disease in general. My PhD has allowed me to explore immune disorders in a more fundamental manner and towards the future I aspire to find a company where I can dedicate myself to translating theory into clinical practice, with the ultimate intention of improving the patient’s quality of life.

  • Doctoral Fellow
    Since January 2013
    I obtained a 'Strategic Basic Research' grant from the Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology (IWT) to study the pathogenesis and potential novel therapeutic targets of herpesvirus-associated secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) and macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) in murine models. This fellowship provides funding for 4 years. My thesis defense is scheduled for March 2017.
