Head of Portfolio Management - Private Banking
May 2007 --- June 2015
When I commenced work at Investec, my primary responsibility was to manage the credit risk function. This involved the development of local credit policies and procedures as well as assessing credits from the Bank's commercial lending team. In Autumn 2008, I proposed the creation of a 'bad loan' team to manage cases, where the risk profile has escalated owing to the deterioration of the property market and overall economy. This team was put in place in January 2009 and I have been responsible for its development over the subsequent years.
September 2006 --- April 2007
I set up my own business, providing consultancy services to banks and individual clients.
General Manager Credit Risk
April 1994 --- September 2006
I commenced working as a credit manager responsible for assessment of credit applications from all sections of the Bank. In 1996, I set up a new Credit Control (Audit) unit and also took over responsibility for the problem loan section (Central Recovery Unit). In 2000, I was given responsibility for the entire credit risk area including credit policy and procedure formulation. I was part of the team, which was responsible for the sale of the Bank to Rabobank in 2003 with specific responsibility for providing the Rabobank team with information in relation to the bank's loan book.
March 1990 --- March 2004
I worked as a credit analyst in all sections of the Bank's credit department - agriculture, business, home loans and personal lending, exercising a personal lending discretion.
Assistant Manager Marketing

When I qualified from UCD, I went to work in the business and agri marketing section, where I was involved in marketing campaigns, new product development and informing the branch system of trends in farm incomes of relevance to them.
