i have leaded a project on the p53 tumor suppressor Gene. p53 is mutated in more that 50% of human cancers. p53 Gene expresses nine p53 Protein isoforms due alternative splicing, alternative promoter usage and alternative initiation of Translation. what are the Biological implications of these isoforms in normal function of p53 and in mutated conditions that lead to Cancer? i demonstrated that the two isoforms present in a model organism have differential implication in the regulation of the wnt pathway, a crucial regulator of organ regeneration and Cell proliferation.
