He obtained an IWT-scholarship and started his PhD at the division of Biomechanics and Engineering Design of the University of Leuven. He is (co-)author of 20 scientific papers and gave over 35 scientific presentations at international conferences. Simultaneously, he obtained a specialization in CAD/CAM from the University of Twente, a post-graduate of Business Studies from the Leuven School of Business and Economics, and a Master of Medical Imaging at the University of Leuven. In 2011, he obtained a Master of Corporate Law at the University of Brussels. He was elected one of the Flemish Young High-Potentials by the Vacature company and the Vlerick Leuven-Gent Management School and he was named laureate of the GlaxoSmithKline Oral Healthcare price. He has been jury member of the Bizidee Flemish business plan contest for 3 years. During university studies, he decided to start a medical-technical consultancy company together with his colleague PhD student, Frederik Gelaude. Through Clijmans & Gelaude BVBA they successfully provided specialized consultancy for research and development of products supporting surgery and diagnosis. In October 2008, together again, they started Mobelife NV, active in the field of custom orthopedics. Mobelife’s highly specialized team developed patient-specific bone and joint implant solutions, individually evaluated and precisely documented. Early 2015, Mobelife was fully acquired by original investor Materialise. For another year, Tim combined his position as CEO of Mobelife with the responsibility as Director Global Clinical Direct sales at Materialise. He was member of several internal and external Boards.
