    In the first part, I synthesized and characterized potential inhibitors of the enzyme DXS. To test these inhibitors, I grew genetically modified E.coli, which over-expresses DXS, purified the enzyme and checked the inhibition capacity on the compounds. In the second part, I grew bacteria with deuterium labeled glucose, which introduced deuterium on the reduction site. After extraction of biosynthesized compounds, I tried to identify by NMR analysis where the reduction sites were.
