Current Experience

  • R&D Scientist
    Since September 2013

Member of the Cell and Viral Technology team. This position gives me the opportunity to apply my skills in cell culture techniques (for adherent as well as suspension cells, from T-flasks or Shake flasks to bioreactors) and in virology. Working as a "manager on the field", I lead a team of 3-4 people and manage the process development, the writing of progress/development reports, the transfer to GMP facilities or to other facilities in Belgium/US.

Past Experience

  • Post-Doctoral Researcher in the Gynecology Department
    July 2011 --- April 2013
This position offered me the opportunity to complete assignments I was tasked with in the phase I clinical trial led by PregLem S.A., as well as to supervise technicians, Ph.D. students and medical undergraduates during their work in our laboratory. I also started a new project as study supervisor, investigating nerve fibers in endometriosis patients and the impact of selective progesterone receptor modulators in uterine leiomyoma treatment.

  • Phase I Clinical trial
    January 2011 --- December 2011
Involvement in a phase I clinical trial: “A phase I, safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic study of steroid sulfatase inhibitor PGL2001 administered alone and in combination with norethisterone acetate to healthy premenopausal women” (clinical trial conducted by PregLem S.A.)

  • PhD in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences
    January 2007 --- January 2011
My Ph.D. allowed me to demonstrate my ability to conduct and complete a biomedical/pharmaceutical research project. PregLem S.A. (Swiss pharmaceutical company specialized in the field of gynecology) funded this project. During this time, I was involved in two phase I clinical trials (conducted by PregLem S.A.). Our laboratory received endometrial biopsy samples to be analyzed over the course of the trials. I was the contact person from our university for sample analysis, interpretation of results and report writing.

  • Phase I Clinical trial
    September 2008 --- June 2010
Involvement in a phase I clinical trial: “Effect of multiple oral doses of PGL2001 on the endometrium of healthy premenopausal women – Exploratory analyses within PGL07-001 Phase I clinical study” (clinical trial conducted by PregLem S.A.)

  • Set-up of selection markers adapted to Saccharomyces cerevisiae industrial yeasts
    January 2006 --- June 2006
Master's work experience. This experience gave me the opportunity to enhance and consolidate my knowledge in molecular biology and microbiology (bacteria/yeasts).
