Summary

I am interested in mechanisms regulating cellular signal transduction under (patho)physiological conditions. I aim to characterize and exploit "Achilles' heel" molecular mechanisms to find cures for human diseases, such as cancers. I am interested in proposals that could expand the impact of my research and potentially benefit my laboratory (www.pacslab.net) and my career.

  • Professor in Molecular & Cellular Biology
    Since March 2012
    I am Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), a Dutch-speaking university located in Brussels, Belgium. My duties consist of teaching, research and administrative/societal tasks. Teaching: I am a "docent" in the Flemish academic system. I teach at undergraduate and graduate levels (both lectures and laboratory practicals). Research: I am a "ZAP" in the Flemish academic system. I perform, direct and supervise bio-medically-oriented research on the cell division cycle and cancer biology fields with a strong emphasis in proteins post-translational modifications (phosphorylation and ubiquitination).
