The focus of my position is the general health and preparation or research animals for use in safety, screening and efficiency studies. ClinVet conducts studies on compounds intended for veterinary use for both companion and production animals for the global animal health and pharmaceutical industry.
I have experience in preparing canines, felines, lagomorphs, bovines, ovines, rodents (rats and gerbils) and equines for clinical research purposes and to serve as donor animals for endo and ecto parasite breeding. I will be involved in the preparation of poultry for clinical research in 2017.
My role includes critical thinking to provide solutions to colony problems, animal handling, breeding and behaviour. I am directly responsible for the amagement of animal body conditions, food management, endo-parasite screening and deworming, vaccinations and animal health observations. I lead a team of six technical assistants and I am responsible for the dlegation of their work. I also play an administrative role in updating our animal databases and animal histories, as welll as the creation of animal movements, the selection of animals for study and work schedules.
I have experience in ecto parasite infestations(fleas and ticks), animal sedation, flea egg counts and in the collection of blood from canines, felines and bovines. I was promoted from Research Animal associate to Colony Manager associate in September 2015.

The focus of my position was the management of herd health, milk quality and to lead a team of dairy farm working in all cattle management related activities. The company is based on the New Zealand dairy farm system of rotational pasture grazing with set calving periods.
My main duties included;
- Managing correct milking procedures and milk quality
- Bacteria and somatic cell count management
- Management and general maintainance of milk tanks and machines
- Herd health (+/-) 1500 bovines on 3 separate farms including mastitis and milk fever
- Manage cattle vaccination, dosing dipping programs and animal welfare
- Fertility management including heat detection, douching, Metri checking and abortions
- Artificial insemination of cows and mating systems
- Manage cull rate and herd welfare including herd mortality
- Dairy bull management and fertility
- Management of dry (non lactating) cows and calving cows
- Calf delivery and post calving care
- Management of calf rearing systems
- Administration including general orders, wages, milking data, stock counts, livestock counts and data entry
- Pasture management and measurement including feed/pasture calculators, fodder flow plan, pasture allocation and use of risng plate meter

It also involved filling in for time keepers and scribes where necessary.
