    The main work duties include: maintaining accounting records and preparing management accounts for five companies in the region, preparing client invoices and maintaining Backlog reports, maintaining forecasts and budgets for the operations, responsibilities for cash management including credit control, ensuring that all assigned tasks are completed by the agreed deadlines so that monthly accounts are available to Head Office on agreed dates, and carrying out ad-hoc financial projects as required by the Finance Director.

    • The main work duties included: preparing and interpreting financial statements and notes in compliance with the Companies Act and specified accounting standards for an associate company and seven subsidiary companies of the University on a monthly basis, providing corporation tax returns for those companies, preparing management information and explaining financial regulations to board, implementing and maintaining University Fixed Asset Register (total gross book value was over £200m) and Deferred Capital Grants, explaining VAT rules and regulations to University staff on a daily basis (it was very important that the University was legally compliant with taxation law and to ensure, where possible, it was able to claim back recoverable VAT worth about £500k per annum), and providing various analyses of income/expenditure for subsidiary and associate companies and the University as a whole.

    November 2002 --- June 2004
    The main work duties included: accruals, prepayments, bad debt reports, stock valuation reports, VAT returns reports, preparing financial statements and notes to the accounts, analysing the company's income and expenses and explaining budget variances to departments’ managers and computing the corporation tax and reviewing accounting records on a periodical basis.
