Female Genital Mutilation refers to the cutting, removing, closing or damaging of the female external genital part for non-medical reasons. In 1996 the awareness has been brought about by this injustice and brutal act. In 1996, under federal law, it was declared a crime and the punishment was decided to be five years in prison. It is common in Asia, Africa, and India.
